หากพูดถึงรถยนต์สปอร์ตเจ้าตำนานที่หลายคนชื่นชอบและใฝ่ฟาอยากมาเป็นเจ้าของ Toyota Supra จัดได้ว่าเป็นรถยนต์รุ่นหนึ่ง ที่ได้รับความนิยมชมชอบจากคนที่รักสปอร์ตหรือผู้ดีนัก ซิ่งที่แม้รถคันนี้จะห่างหายจากวงการไปนานแต่ล่าสุดก็มีข่าลืมว่ามันอาจจะกำลัจะกลับมา
ในขณะที่หลายคนกำลังจับตาถึงรถสปอร์ตรุ่นใหม่ของค่ายรถยนต์ Toyota ในรหัส FT86 II ที่น่าจะเป็เวอร์ชั่นสุดท้ายก่อนวางจำหน่ายจริงในปีหน้าที่มีการคาดการณ์ออกมาต่างๆนานา แต่ที่น่าสนใจคือการปลุกรถสปอร์ตคอมแพ็ตเจ้าตำนานอย่าง AE86 ขึ้นมาหวังมัดใจขาซิ่งรุ่นใหญ่ แต่เมื่อมันใช้เครื่องยนต์จาก Subaru ก็ทำให้หลายคนแปลกใจพอตัวเลยทีเดียว
ก่อนหน้านี้ไม่นานค่ายรถยนต์พรีเมี่ยมแบรนด์ของ Toyota ได้เปิดตัว Lexus LFA สปอร์ตคาร์ที่น่าจะพอเรียกได้บ้างว่าเติบโตขึ้นในสาย super car อย่างชัดเจนจากการออกแบบที่ก้าวล้ำทันสมัยมากยิ่งขึ้น และเครื่องยนต์ที่คงความเป็นสปอร์ตคาร์ชั้นนำโดยแท้ ด้วยขุมพลังแรงสูงไร้ระบบอัดอากาศที่พาทะยานอย่างสะใจ
แม้ Toyota จะปฏิเสธมาตลอดถึงการปลุก Toyota Supra รุ่นใหม่ขึ้นมาวาดลวดลายแต่มันก็อดทำให้หลายคนสงสัยไม่ได้ว่าในขณะที่คู่แข่งตัวสำคัญกลับมาวาดลีลาในชื่อ GT-R แต่ Toyota ไปงมโข่งอยู่ที่ไหน ซึ่งล่าสุดนิตยสารยานยนต์ชั้นนำ Car จากเกาะอังกฤษก็สืบเสาะความเป็นไปได้จากค่ายรถยนต์สามห่วง
เรื่องนี้ต้องพูดตามตรงว่ายังไม่ชัดเจนเพราะแม้แต่นิตยสารชื่อดังยังไม่กล้าที่จะพูดเต็มปากว่ามันจะใช่ Toyota Supra ใหม่หรือไม่ แต่จากข้อมูลของ Car นั้นพบว่า ในบริษัท Toyota ได้เริ่มแผนงานบางอย่างเพื่อที่จะแทนที่รถยนต์สปอร์ตคาร์ขับหลังรุ่นเดิม แถมยังเป็นโครงการลับที่ยังไม่เปิดเผยแผนงาน
2 โครงการที่สำคัญที่พอจะบอกได้นั้น เป็นรถยนต์สปอร์ตที่คุ้นตากันพอตัวกับ FT86 และอีกหนึ่งนั้นเป็นสปอร์ตขับหน้า ซึ่งก็เป็นไปได้ที่มันน่าจะเป็น Lexus CT 200 h เวอร์ชั่นสมรรถนะสูง แต่โครงการที่ว่านี้นั้นไม่ใช่ทั้ง 2 อย่างแน่นอน ทว่าที่มั่นใจได้จากแหล่งข่าววงในนั้นก็คือมันจะพร้อมในปี 2014
ในตอนนี้สปอร์ตคาร์นิรนามค่ายสามห่วงคันใหม่นี้ยังไม่มีรายละเอียดอะไรที่จะทำให้สามารถเข้าใจได้มากขึ้น แต่โดยรวมจากที่ CAR มีข้อมูล มันน่าจะเป็นรถสปอร์ตทรงสมรรถนะที่จะใช้เครื่องยนต์ที่ให้อัตราเร่งสูง ซึ่งน่าจะคล้ายที่อยู่ใน LFA แต่คำถามที่สำคัญไปกว่านั้นคือ ตกลงมันใช่ Supra ใหม่ ! หรือเปล่า
